Scorpions fans: What's you favorite album? Who was your favorite lead guitarist?

They released many great albums. I still have a soft spot for the Michael Schenker era album 'Lonesome Crow', one of my favorites!

Then Uli Roth was fantastic also. 'Fly to the Rainbow', 'Intrance', 'Virgin Killer', 'Taken by Force' and the live album 'The Tokyo Tapes' are all classics as well.

The Matthius Jabbs phase was my least favorite, with the exception of 'Love Drive' of course because Michael Schenker guested and played on a couple tracks. Parts of 'Animal Magnetism' and 'Blackout' were OK I suppose also.

After that I really lost interest, and 'Love at First Sting' put the nail in the coffin for me. I never got into that whole 80's MTV hair metal scene. I guess they sold out, and in the process gained some new fans, and lost a few too!

Well, think I am like you as regards to the Scorpions, I think their best work was with Uli and twist my arm Id say the live album Tokyo Tapes was the best. LoveDrive was a great album, I love the instrumental Coast to Coast, and one of the best Scorpions track ever for me was The Zoo. You Scorpions influenced many rock bands here in Singapore and Malaysia with their ballads. They are very very popular here in this region.

I didn't really follow the band but I did hear their songs such as "Rock you like a hurricane" - I did get an album of some of their hits and I enjoyed it, especially one of the slower songs.

'Blackout' got me into the band but I agree with' Lonesome Crow'. Michael Schenker is one of the BEST guitarists to this day. I had the priviledge of seeing him open for Ted Nugent in 87 and Ted could'nt hold a candle to Michael Schenker Group.

I love Michael Schenker %26amp; my favorite albums are Virgin Killer, Love at First Sting, Blackout, Animal Magnatism, Live Bites, Savage Amusement %26amp; they had one album that was almost techno that I totally loved as it was completely underground Eye to Eye.

Scorpions best album in my opinion is probably Blackout. They may have peaked with Love at First Sting, but by then they were being overplayed (in the U.S. at least). The two albums leading up to Blackout are also both very good (Lovedrive and Animal Magnetism) and would not get an arguement from me as being considered their best either. Rudolph Schenker is the heart behind the Scorps sound, and subsequently my favorite guitarist. Guess you want my favorite "lead" guitarist though...I'd have to say Jabs. The sounds he puts forth on the song "Animal Magnetism" are fantastically eiree...sort of like the sounds Ronnie James Dio puts forth on the intro to the classic "Holy Diver." I liked Roth but his style didn't fit the Scorpions hard sound I've grown to love. He is probably more technically sound, as well as being more creative, but there are just too many weak songs during the Roth years. EVERY song on the aforementioned Lovedrive-Magnetism-Blackout trilogy ROCKS! Michael Schenker's best work was with UFO.

Then I followed him off to UFO and MSG!

MSG's Assault Attack with Graham Bonnet (vocals) is my absolute favorite.

Lonesome Crow has to be the perfect Scorps album. Unsurpassed for decades.
