I've caught a guy repeatedly staring at me... uhm, what's that mean?

So there's this guy Jake (he's a senior, I'm a freshman) @ my band camp and while we were outside marching this morning, I caught him staring at me 7 times, which means there could have been more times that I didn't see. Whenever I do catch him, he stares at me for another second or two, then "stretches" his back or some other body part.

Also, in the morning when we're outside we do stretches. There was one stretch where you have to stretch your back by raising up your arms. He stands beside me and up one. While we were stretching, he looked back at me for a split second (he was kind of looking around, but we did make eye contact), then turned back to stretching. Next thing I know, he's sort of flexing his arm muscles and messing with the back of his hair with his hands.

Is he interested like I am? Or is he just doing normal guy things. Help is greatly appreciated :D

he does not know the words to say so he makes the gestures . He wants to be close and physical with you. I am not sure of any emotions being a part of it at all.

Unless you see him checking out other girls, it sounds like he's interested. Either that or he looks at you just because he likes the way you look.

What's the worst that can happen if you walk up to him after doing your stretches and say something like "Hi. How are you today?" Or ask him a question that has to do with band practice or a song you're rehearsing?

And all you're doing is saying hello and asking a question. Maybe he's been waiting for you to give him some kind of sign that you'd like to talk to him. You have nothing to lose!

Oh, man. I've had this HUGE crush on a girl just recently. I would talk and joke with her forever and she would never give me much of a response. I have been eyeballing her every chance I got and I think it started to scare her. I couldn't help it.

So if you like this guy you better say something to him. Smile and say hi to him sometime. Start small and see what happens.

If you DON'T like it you better say something too. I wish my girl did. She would just look at me and look away. I would just keep looking at her and try to get in front of her and give her a chance to say something to me. She never said more than basic things. She knows I'm obsessed with her. Turns out she has a boyfriend. It killed me after all this time.

So just be direct with a guy who you think likes you. Don't wait. Never wait. You could be missing out on something great and you'll be saving both of you a lot of frustration.

That look, dear child is that special look that a boy looks at a girl, which is coming from his heart. His emotional growth has about finished developing. He might mature a little bit for another year or so, but for the most part his brain has all the chemicals all in the right place. You on the other hand, have a while to go yet. Because of your age difference, and girls mature faster than boys do, you are about at the same level of development as him. All this means is that you and him should hit off just fine. You are about a year behind him in the emotional stages of maturity. Anyway, to answer your question : He is more than interested in you. You just make his day, his week, your are on his mind 24--7. and is on cloud nine when he can, just see you. The electricity is high right now and each time he sees you, the charge goes even higher.
