Has anyone heard of the band 'Rainbow,'?

I'm just getting in to them and think they're stuff is amazing but I am a bit confused.

In the videos available on YouTube there seem to be two different singers at two different times, one with long brown hair ('Long Live Rock n' Roll') and one with short blond hair ('Since you've been gone'). What's the story here, is it actually the same band? Who are the two different singers...and what's the connection to Deep Purple?

Ritchie Blackmore was Deep Purples guitarist. When DP split, he formed Rainbow. The rest of the band were employees as far as I know so they got hired and fired on a regular basis. Whitesnake was also formed in pretty much the same way by David Coverdale also DP at one point.

Rainbow had 3 different singers during the 70s/80s, Joe Lynn Turner (I Surrender), Graham Bonnet (Since Youve Been Gone) and Ronnie James Dio (Long Live Rock n Roll). Dio later went on to form his own band called... Dio. There was another singer when they reformed in the 90s, Doogie White.

It's the band formed by Deep Purple's guitarist, Ritchie Blackmore, after DP finished.

i remember them from i think the late 70s early 80s cant remember the change in singer though, sorry i cant help.

Buy the Rainbow Rising CD, it will blow you away. Ronnie James Dio singing is classic rock at its best. They became a bit more pop orientated in the 1980's, when Graham Bonnet became singer.

Long haired singer is Ronnie James Dio,and the other one is Graham Bonnet.The Deep Purple connection is Rainbow founder,guitarist Ritchie Blackmore was in Purple.
