I got bitten by a spider that looks like a daddy long legs - do they bite? Or could it be a male red

The spider is light brown, with dark brown bands down the legs. If I look closely, I can see little hairs on the legs. It also has little fangs. It's body is quite small and long (not round), greyish in colour, with camouflage that looks like bark. It is quite a small spider, and the legs are long, that is why I thought it was a daddy long legs. The bite was quite sharp, more like a sting. It has been 3 hours since and I have not had any other symptoms. The bite itself is hard to see - but it did penetrate my skin. It is not red or painful. Could it have been a male redback?? It kind of looks like the male redback in this pic:http://www.qm.qld.gov.au/features/s...

except the second and third legs are not shorter than the other legs. They are all the same length. If I spread its legs out, it would probably be around the size of a 20c piece. Anyone got any idea?

daddy long legs do bite... but their fangs are not long enough to pierce human skin....

i don't think it is a red back (the males are black they just do not have the red stripe the females have..

I dont know any species off the top of my head i think you should call a directory try the rspca and they can direct you to someone that might know or call the poisons hotline

i don't know anything about redbacks, but i do know a daddy longlegs did not bite you. they aren't even spiders, and they don't bite people. also, i couldn't see the picture because it says page not found.

update: "Daddy-longlegs (Opiliones) - these arachnids make their living by eating decomposing vegetative and animal matter although are opportunist predators if they can get away with it. They do not have venom glands, fangs or any other mechanism for chemically subduing their food. Therefore, they do not have poison and, by the powers of logic, cannot be poisonous from venom. Some have defensive secretions that might be poisonous to small animals if ingested. So, for these daddy-long-legs, the tale is clearly false."

here's the link from which i quote the above:
