I work in a metal specialist CD shop, and the amount of poser kids that came in today made me really angry... They're the ones who dye their hair black and complain about "not fitting in". Not the emos.

They all think they're raging metalheads, when the only bands they know are Metallica and Iron Maiden. Those who like Trivium deserve to be flogged! Real metalheads are too hard to find these days.

What's your opinion?

i personally don't believe in the whole poser thing. people can choose to like and dress however they feel. no one said to be a certain label, you must dress this certain way. labels belong to genres of music, not humans.

I know I hate it. My little cousin I just want to strangle. When I am listening to my iPod she comes up grabs an earbud and starts to try to sing the words. I get so mad. And your so right "real metalheads" are really hard to find. But it's good to know I am not the only one to think that.

I hate to call people posers, but I do hate people who think they are such a tr00 fan and yet they know nothing. And it KILLS me when people say metal is rock.

Kick them out of the shop. Nothing annoys me more as well. Metal isn't about the image, it's about the music. I prefer older metal and melodic death metal.

they tend to look at the "badass" factor of the band as their main criteria, America is a place of trends which I hate so much because there are so many talented bands who are not getting the recognition they deserve due to the fact they do not follow these trends while there are other so called "musicians/artists" from American Idol who get way more recognition than they deserve but they usually don't last very long whereas Iron Maiden, Dio, Queensryche, Eagles, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Scorpions, UFO, Rush, etc. (any band/musician who stays true to their music which apparently is not Metallica) live forever

trivium don't even count as a band in their own right. they're a glorified metallica tribute act - which says a lot about who wears their t-shirts.

been into rock metal for over 30 years most of bands around now are crap with all thier silly little kids 9 and 10 year olds into looks and fashion more than music check out some real rock bands from 70s early 80s real musicians not just posing wannabes

Oh yes.

There's this one kid who changes all the time. Last year he went for a skater look, before that he went for an anime look, and now he's going for a metal look. But that's not the worst part. When he started wearing band T-shirts, guess what was on them? KoRn, Disturbed, Linkin Park, and Avenged Sevenfold. He tries to pass those off as heavy metal bands. And guess what else? He's never even heard of Iron Maiden and used to say Metallica sucked. Plus, the only Slayer song he likes is "Eyes of the Insane" (and he wouldn't have found Slayer if it weren't for me. I showed him Angel of Death at first, and he didn't like it).

What the hell is his problem?
